About Woodstock
Woodstock was incorporated in 1815, and Bryant Pond, on Route 26 in the north of town, is its main village. Bryant Pond ran the last hand-crank telephone system in the United States until it was switched off in October 1983.
In 2008 the village unveiled a 14-foot candlestick-telephone sculpture billed as the world's largest telephone. Woodstock is also the birthplace of Sidney Perham, Maine governor and congressman.
Route 232 leaves Route 26 just east of Bryant Pond and runs north to US Route 2 in Rumford.
