Step inside the mill
The New Mill wheel, turning in its river through the seasons. Grab it and spin it, open the sluice gate, or turn it into a music box and write a tune of your own. Sound stays off until you turn it on.
Water
Drag or flick the wheel to spin it, or tap the river to rock it. Open the sluice gate to send more water down the race and the wheel picks up speed. Close it and the wheel slows down and settles with the leaves upright. It turns either way: switch to clockwise and the river runs the other way.
Music box
The sixteen paddles are the pins of a music box. Tap a paddle to light it, and it plays its note as it passes the striker at the top. Every note is from the same five-note scale, so every tune works. Turn the wheel clockwise and your tune plays backwards. Share yours as a link.
The river
The scene opens on today’s season in Bethel and turns to night after dark, with the sounds to match: birdsong in spring, crickets on summer nights, wind in winter. Slide through the year, go full screen to leave the music box playing, or save the scene as a wallpaper.
